creativity at its finest!

I don't blog much...I just don't think about it all that much, but this I had to put in. In 21 years of photographing weddings I have never witnessed a garter removal like this. The groom was taking off the garter from the brides leg and all of a sudden, a midget ran out from under her dress with the garter in his mouth. The groom chased him around the entire room and it was a huge, huge hit. It was one of the most creative ideas that I had ever seen, it was good creative thinking by the bride and groom. A lot of people come up with ideas on taking off the garter, but this was a first and by far the most creative I have seen yet, nice thinking Kayla and Matt.

It's A Girl!

There is a brand new addition to our family, not in my house, but it is my first Great Niece from my side of the family. Gianna Rose was born on April 9, (her fathers birthday) everyone is doing fine and are very happy. There is a part that is bittersweet though, as I talked about in the previous post, my sister (the baby's grandmother) could not be here to see and hold her new granddaughter. But we know she is watching and loving just as if she were still with us. Please keep good thoughts for us because even though it is a very happy time, there is such a big part that is sad because my sister is not here to share it with us, and you can't believe how that hurts.

Take care, and Happy Easter.

Great Uncle!!!

There is something happening within my family that is very exciting right now. My oldest niece is going to be a mom, very soon we will have a number of greats in my family. Great grandparents, great aunts and uncles, and new grandparents, she is due April 13th. Dana is my first of niece and nephews, I think back when she was born and it caught me off guard how I would be hooked. I was 19 years old then and I thought nothing of calling off my plans with friends and going out if I found out Dana was coming to visit. She is the daughter of my only sister, who passed away in February 2008, it was a very hard time for our family and we are sad that her mom will not be here to see her new grandchild. At the same time we are very happy with this little one just around the bend, I put a few pics in this post that Dana asked me to shoot. I also photographed her wedding in July of 2007, her mom was still with us then and we are thankful for that, we know that she is watching and loving all of us and soon will have a new family member to love.

Thanks for stopping by,
Dino

Fall Weddings

I love the summer, I love how long the daylight sticks around, I love the warm weather, I love swimming, and baseball, and how busy we are as photographers, videographers, or what ever other service we provide for weddings. But I have to say in the past 10 or so years fall weddings have really picked up, sometimes October books up before August. I have to say I am not surprised, the fall weather is comfortable, and leaves turning makes for beautiful photos and scenes. It makes me very happy because it used to be that as photographers, and videographers, and so on...we were mainly busy from April through about August. We maybe had a little in September and when I first started about 20 years ago an October wedding seemed out of the question. It's great that we get to do what we love more often, it's good for moral, it's good for the clients, and it's good for business.

Thanks for checking in,
Dino

I know I don't blog much

I know I don't blog too much and sometimes I catch flack for it. I just don't think everyone is that interested in what I have to say all that much. But the wedding season is pretty much in full swing right now, and thank goodness I have been busy for it. I still feel privledged that I get to do something I love for a living, even though this is my 20th year of doing weddings I still most of the time get a kick out of it. It is still fun and interesting and usually different, you know, different people, different personalities, different situations. It's all fun and challenging and memorable and as I said I consider it a blessing that I get to do this for a living.

Take care,
Dino

Low Pressure

Do you think we could have a few more low pressure systems come through our area to give us snow storms? Anyhow, spring is just around the corner. I don't post blogs very often, it's kind of an out of sight out of mind thing with me. I hope everyones holiday season was good, and I am looking forward to the warmer holidays and the wedding photography season to kick in. I will be quite busy for 2008 and that is a good thing, by this time of the year I am ready to get back at it. No matter if you are working weddings or planning one I hope everyone has a great season and a safe one.

Take care,
Dino

Winding Down

Now that this (photographic) year is ending as far as weddings are concerned I always look to what else I can photograph as a challenge, and as a job. I have been doing a lot of school sports type work with a good friend of mine who is good at getting us involved in school photography. Today we are taking pictures at an Easter Seals school for special needs children, they really had trouble getting other photographers to do it because the kids are not always easy to work with, BIG DEAL. My friend and I jumped on it and are happy to do it, why not? The kids are cute and fun and did a very good job the 1st time we did their pictures. I have done many types of photography, I have done photos in the operating room when I did Medical Photography, I have been on the sidelines of a football field covering a college game, a wedding or two each weekend, and you know what? It's all challenging...Thats not a bad thing!

Take Care and Happy Thanksgiving,

Dino
